Remember when you were in school and looked forward to those gold stars on your work? It was the ultimate validation that you had done a good job, or the beginning of a bad day if you didn't receive one, right? We've all been there.
What if you decided to take the control of your own reward system as the adult you are now? Would your effort level in your daily life and work change?
Make yourself the owner of the gold stars
If you haven't done so yet, start rewarding yourself for all you accomplish in a day, a week, a month.....
We all define success on our own terms so it really is up to us to issue the rewards and validation for our efforts. Our own happiness certainly is not dependent on the judgment on someone else, so why are we looking outside of ourselves for accolades and rewards?
You don't have to wait for anyone else to give you the validation that you have done a great job.
Give yourself that gold star. Not ready to give give yourself those stars? Up your effort on your own terms and do the best you can.

I'm fairly certain that by taking a close look at your life, you can see so much to celebrate already:
- do you put your heart and soul into your work or home life?
- give yourself credit for for your imperfections?
- know that the small steps you take make a difference?
- know that sometimes good enough is good enough?
- practice some sort of self-care?
- do the small things that add up to the big things?
- act with integrity and show kindness?
The teacher in me could create a list for days and supply you with endless stars (and gold soaps to match), but it really is up to you to decide how your life story plays out, and how many pages show gold stars.
